Due to physical and logistical constraints, currently at is only available in Vienna (Austria). If you are interested in creating at spaces in another city, we encourage you to do so. If you would like to offer information about it in this website or if you need information about creating an at space, please write us to info@atexhibitions.com

Founded in 2019, at is a dynamic exhibition space that is quite literally carried (out) by human bodies. Any person that has been or is involved in the process of developing at exhibitions is an essential part of the space regardless of the type of implication with it. Consequently, artists, translators, curators, web developers, designers, proofreaders or any worker that has helped at being what it is, is who we are. If you want to collaborate with us please write us to team@atexhibitions.com

Many are the manuals, guidelines or recommendations that reinforce a particular behavioural practice in the arts in order to show work at a desired institution or space. Sentences such as “decide on specific points that make your art exciting and worth the institution’s attention”, “go to openings and network”, “prepare an exhibition proposal, an artist statement, a resume, a list of references, a portfolio or a budget sheet”, or “learn the history and mission of each museum you’re considering” are commonly spread, accepted and followed. at aims at possibilitating the showcasing of artworks at any desired placed by skipping those very same antiquated steps.
Museum spaces consider themselves limited and thus approach a “highly competitive and complex institutional selection process”. However, this complexity seems quite simple: it is always the same artists inhabiting museums, always the same names and oeuvres appearing year after year in museums’ programs and walls. The real complexity exists in opening institutions to “others”’ participation, and that can be also achieve quite simply, at wants to be an example of such.
Irremediably nowadays, the act of having-shown-there, imprinted later on in CVs, bios and curatorial texts, increase the value of the work (both economically and socially) as well as the possibilities of the artist to obtain grants, residencies or more exhibition opportunities. at hopes to function as a shortcut to increasing the aforementioned artists’ opportunities and at the same time stands for a change on how value is been created and unequally distributed in the arts.
